[The first thing that causes Melanie to stir is the pain in her back. Then it's the feeling of raindrops pummeling her back and... the taste of sand in her mouth.]

Ugh! [Immediately she pushes herself up and works to wipe away all of the sand, although she winces slightly when she hears a clap of thunder.

Wake up on a beach in a thunderstorm. Oh, this is perfect.]

Somehow, I get the feeling that this isn't the beach in Gotham.

[And how did she get here, anyway?]

[She takes his hand.]

Ready. [She's a bit concerned by the fact that she doesn't have any money at the moment, but they'll cross that bridge when it comes.]

[bamfing]

[Now you see them, now you don't. A split second later, they're out in the rain again, but then before there's even time to get an idea of the surroundings, they're gone again and reappearing inside the clothing store.]

Here we are. The boringly named Clothing Store.

As long as it's got what I need, I don't think the name matters much. [She takes a few moments to browse through the clothing available before she spots a rather familiar ensemble.]

... Wait, those are my clothes. [How did they even get here and... why wasn't she wearing them when she arrived?]

[bamfing]

... oh yeah, the people who brought us here? They ahh... kinda left your clothes here. It's their system or something. They did it to me too.

[Just try not to think of the implications of what that means.]

Do they do this with all of somebody's clothing, or just what they were wearing before they were brought here? [At the moment she's thinking about the chance of another outfit of hers showing up, but she should probably put that behind her. She's a changed person, and it's not like it'd make a difference.]

Either way, at least I don't have to pay for what I already own.

[bamfing]

Maybe not all of it, but a lot of my stuff has shown up. [Including his X-Men uniform, on day one.] But it's all free, even the stuff that isn't yours.

[She grins.] That's a relief. [And... she'll probably look for her Ten costume once she's by herself.]

Anyway, I'll be just a second.

[Melanie takes a little bit of time to find a space to change into her actual clothing before she comes back out.]

There we go. Definitely better than walking around in a soaked dress.

[bamfing]

[Kurt gives an approving nod. This is much more flattering than her being covered in a wet blanket.]

Ahh yeah, very nice. You look great.

Thanks. And... I guess the wings are standard here, huh? [Kind of hard not to notice them when she was in the middle of changing. The wings definitely took her by surprise, but considering just how bizarre today has been so far? Well, Melanie definitely isn't as shocked as she could have been. Better to just try and roll with things instead of freaking out, after all.]

[bamfing]

Yeah, you get used to them. You might want to pick up some scissors, so you can make room for your wings.

[Especially since she seems to favor those skin tight outfits. Not that Kurt is complaining, but...]

Hopefully it won't take too long to get used to them. [As for the scissors... well, she'll worry about those later.]

So what's with this place, anyway? Besides the kidnapping and the wings, I mean.

[bamfing]

Well, there's the experiments and drafts too. But mostly there's just the village and we ahh... try to live here. [Mostly try. Some days are easier than others.] We can't escape with our own power. So we just have to wait until we get sent home by the Malnosso guys.

Experiments? [And drafts, too. Neither of those sound very good.]

Well. [Hrm.] At least everything's free.

[Small favours and all that.]

[The business of experiments are never good and he'll have to... tell her more in time.]

Doesn't really make up for it, but it helps. A little.

Well, sometimes the small things are enough to help a little bit. [Not always, but sometimes.]

But I guess I should save judgments until I've been here a bit longer.

Probably... speaking of which, I can show you the Welcome Center, yeah? I'd let you crash at my place, but we're completely maxed out now.

Don't worry about it. I'm pretty used to having to move from one place to another. [Boy, is she ever.]

[The way she says that sort of reminds him of Tabitha. Which is... sort of sad to think about.]

Well... I guess that will make it easier, yeah?

I guess so. Once you're used to it, it's not like moving around again is a big deal.

The only thing that makes this different is that I didn't get any kind of warning. [She shrugs.] I'll figure something out, either way.

Well, anytime you want, you can hang out my place. We've got a flatscreen TV and everything. Very exclusive.
