tenofspades | 2nd Card [Backdated to yesterday night]

[They spliced her. They kidnapped her and they spliced her. Sure, giving her wings when she arrived is one thing, but she didn't volunteer to be taken away so they could give her scales, fangs, mess with her eyes and get rid of her hair. She can't be out like this - she needs to get back into her apartment, and... stay there until she changes back. Or until she can figure out some other kind of solution.

Melanie's lucky it's dark out, or else it would be a hell of a lot harder to try and sneak back home - and she's lucky that she still has her legs, too. It would be pretty difficult to miss a human-sized thing slithering around in the middle of the night, after all. Of course, there's no real way of knowing for sure if she'll manage to get back without being seen, but damn it, she'll try.]

[Later, when she's back home:]

It's Melanie. Sorry for being away, but the sudden absence wasn't exactly my idea.

Either way, I'm back now, so I guess that's what matters. Did I miss anything interesting?

[OOC: Melanie's back from her mallynapping! And she's been spliced with a black mamba, HOORAY. She'll be looking pretty different from usual (apologies, my editing skills seem to be pretty crummy these days), and she may start acting a bit different since splicing changes both appearance and personality, so uh. [Yeah, there really won't be a way to break this to him gently. She had positioned herself away from the journal so the camera wouldn't be facing her, but now she picks it up so Flynn will be able to see Melanie as she looks now. So here she is! Hairless, scaly, bluish-gray and obviously no longer completely human.]

Surprise.

[ He jumps back -- which is good, because all she'll have seen of his expression is surprise. Once he's a foot back -- where she can no longer see his face, or any of him, really -- horror will seep into his expression.

It's ... mixed. Does she look gross? Yeah, sure. But at least half of his reaction -- probably more than half -- is horror at the fact that this was forced on her. That the Malnosso did this. Will she change back? What the hell kind of people do that to a girl?

When he comes back to the journal his expression is one of mixed shock, worry, incredulity, anger ... a lot of things. ] They sure know how to treat a lady.

They really do. [Melanie then takes a moment to switch on Kurt's holo-watch - her form flickers, and then she looks as normal as ever. She would have just had the hologram on the entire time, but then the way she was acting wouldn't make any sense at all. Better for Flynn to see what happened to her, at least momentarily.

Melanie is incredibly grateful to Kurt for letting her borrow it, but at the end of the day her mind just keeps on wandering back to the fact that it's just a hologram. If someone touches her, she'll still feel scaly and cold. She still has no hair. She still has fangs. She's still venomous. She's still an inhuman freak.]

At least I was given a way around this until I'm back to normal. [She has to resist saying "if" she goes back to normal. Even if she was assured that this sort of thing was usually temporary, the fear that this may be permanent still lingers.]

[ His smile is faint. ] Hey, who gave you that? Pretty nifty. Imagine all the disguises I could have pulled off with that sort of thing. [ A beat. ] They'll change you back. Don't worry.

It belongs to my friend Kurt. It's pretty interesting, but I think I'm just going to stick to looking like me. [Still, Melanie is going to smile, too. After all, at least with this she'll be able to go outside in public.]

At least I'll be able to look normal for the next while. I'll just have to get used to being scaly [and having to swallow all her food at once 8|] underneath until I change back.

Kurt? Hey, yeah, I know him! He's a friend of mine. [ He smiles a little -- he sensed Kurt was a good guy, but this adds a few points to his tally. ] And hey, can't say I blame you. You looking like just you is ... pretty cute, after all. [ Wince wince wince wince wince. He didn't -- he wasn't trying to -- that came out wrong, but sort of also right, because -- he was just trying to be nice!! -- but it sounds like he's trying to be more than nice probably oh god this is really awkward now LET'S MOVE ON! ]

Aaaaaaaanyway! If you've got that thing ... why don't we hit the amusement park? It'd be fun! Trust me.
