[The first thing that causes Melanie to stir is the pain in her back. Then it's the feeling of raindrops pummeling her back and... the taste of sand in her mouth.]
Ugh! [Immediately she pushes herself up and works to wipe away all of the sand, although she winces slightly when she hears a clap of thunder.
Wake up on a beach in a thunderstorm. Oh, this is perfect.]
Somehow, I get the feeling that this isn't the beach in Gotham.
[And how did she get here, anyway?]

It's about five miles to get to the transporter, though. I can get use there faster.
/punches notifs
If it gets us out of the rain faster, I don't think I'll mind.
no subject
It might help to close your eyes, yeah?
[Because this is going to take about ten teleports just to get to the teleporter. Unfortunately his 'ports are more exhausting for the rider than the one in control, so by the time she gets there, she'll probably be feeling a little exhausted and like she came off one of the loopiest roller coasters around.]

When that's all done, Melanie is left feeling very dizzy, and she has to lean on Kurt for a bit just to make sure she doesn't fall over.]
... So I'm guessing you're not just spliced, huh?
no subject
Spliced? Not... really. I'm not sure what that means, but I'm a mutant. [Or in DC terms, the much more friendly 'meta-human'.]
no subject
Mutant, though... [She smirks.] Sounds pretty schway.
[Her parents would be appalled at Melanie using such unrefined slang, but she's since stopped being a part of their little group. Melanie quickly pushes that thought out of her mind.]
no subject
... schway, huh? [Why does that sound familiar?]

[Here's the teleporter, though. It's a large metal box sort of thing with a door on the front. He opens it up, waiting for her to follow him inside.]
Speaking of schway, this is the fastest way to the village.
no subject
[She's only partially joking.]

[He closes it. There's a slight shift, like going in an elevator, and when he opens it they're in another building. The barracks, specifically.]
Not as cool as the way I do it, but not bad, yeah?
no subject
Definitely not as cool, but I guess it'll do.
no subject
So... how are you doing so far?
no subject
But at least the company isn't so bad.
no subject
Like... present company? [Shouldn't she be more worried about... wings and stuff?]
no subject
I haven't been in anyone else's company since getting here. [So yes, she means present company.
As for the wings... well, that pain in her back is still present and she was a bit too distracted by the teleporting and exhaustion to really notice them.]
no subject
Though she just said 'not so bad'. So it's not really anything at all.]
Ahhh, right, duh. [Nervous chuckle.] At least you're taking the mutant thing well.

When you live in a city where it's trendy to splice your DNA, people run around in costume and either try to save the day or start something [like she and her family did], or... whatever else? [She thinks back to some of Gotham's other... less than human-looking villains, like Blight.]
Trust me, blue and fuzzy isn't so scary.
no subject
Man, I'm not sure if I should be flattered or not.
no subject
Anyway, do you know where I could get some clothes? That aren't soaking wet, I mean.
no subject
Ready?
no subject
Ready. [She's a bit concerned by the fact that she doesn't have any money at the moment, but they'll cross that bridge when it comes.]
no subject
Here we are. The boringly named Clothing Store.
no subject
... Wait, those are my clothes. [How did they even get here and... why wasn't she wearing them when she arrived?]
no subject
[Just try not to think of the implications of what that means.]
