[It’s late evening when Melanie returns from her mission, and despite the rain, she’s just glad to be back.

She's got a few small scrapes and bruises here and there and she's feeling exhausted, but she'll worry about all of that later. First she's off to the item shop so she can get a damn umbrella, because like hell she's walking back to CH1 in this rain. Sure, she doesn't mind the weather, but she's not exactly fond of getting soaking wet, either.

So, once that's taken care of, Melanie will head back to her apartment so she can clean herself up.

... Oh, yeah. Should probably take care of something else, too.]

[Voice; Locked to Kurt]
Happy anniversary. [Six months is something that should be acknowledged, right? ... Well, it's the longest that she's ever been with anyone, at least. So that counts for something.]

[Kurt, as always, arrives first. He'll be hanging around the entrance, casually sipping on a soda.]

[It won't take Melanie long to get there, and when she does, she'll be giving Kurt a hug. Because she missed him, okay.]

It's good to see you.

[He eagerly returns the hug, because he was going to do the same thing if she didn't.]

You too, Mel. It's not the same without you around here.

Well, I'm back now. And I don't plan on going anywhere for a while. [Yeah, there's no way of really promising that in a place like this, but... eh. Who cares? She's just happy to be back.]

I think next time I'm going to have to make you pass up on a mission. [It's his turn anyway! She can do the missing, okay.]

Mm. I don't think I'd want to go on another one for a while, anyway.

It was all the hard work, wasn't it? It looks glamorous at first, but then you realize you're just grunt labor!

You're right. All that hard work? I don't think I could do it again.

Finally your secret comes out! You're just lazy!

... okay, point. So, did you ask for anything cool as your reward?

[As he talks, he'll grab a basket so he can start loading up on tonight's snackage.]

Not really. There wasn't really anything that I could think of that I wanted.

What, really? Man, you should have asked for something cool and future-y!

It's only future-y to you, Kurt. [For her, all the stuff in Gotham is nothing new.] Besides, most of the stuff I'd think about asking for wouldn't have much use here.

[She grins.]

But maybe I'll see if I can request something from the future for you the next time I go on a mission.

That's all I ask! The flashier the better.

In that case, I'll make sure to keep it in mind.

In the meantime, I think I'm supposed to be getting you something pretty soon.

Hm? [... Oh, right. Birthday soon.] You don't have to. I mean, birthdays were never really a big deal for me.

[Her last one was spent like any other day at work and home, and before that a birthday normally just meant keeping some extra loot from a heist.]

[He shakes his head.]

Which means this time, it will be a big deal!

[RELUCTANT but okay fine. It's sweet of him to want to do something for her, anyway.]

Fine. [She grins.] I probably couldn't convince you, anyway.

Of course not! It's my first time where I get to celebrate a girlfriend's birthday. It wouldn't be fair to take that from me.

You're right, depriving you from that would be downright cruel.

Exactly. You really need to think more about what's best for me. For instance...

[He moves over to one aisle with the sodas.]

Which drink do you think I'd like best?

I'm pretty sure as long as it's full of sugar, there wouldn't be much for you to complain about.
