[It’s late evening when Melanie returns from her mission, and despite the rain, she’s just glad to be back.

She's got a few small scrapes and bruises here and there and she's feeling exhausted, but she'll worry about all of that later. First she's off to the item shop so she can get a damn umbrella, because like hell she's walking back to CH1 in this rain. Sure, she doesn't mind the weather, but she's not exactly fond of getting soaking wet, either.

So, once that's taken care of, Melanie will head back to her apartment so she can clean herself up.

... Oh, yeah. Should probably take care of something else, too.]

[Voice; Locked to Kurt]
Happy anniversary. [Six months is something that should be acknowledged, right? ... Well, it's the longest that she's ever been with anyone, at least. So that counts for something.]

[Talk about missing his girlfriend, he's psyched to hear her back.]

You're back! [Oh. Right. Anniversary.] Man. The Malnosso have the craziest timing, don't they?

They do. [She laughs a little.]

But at least it's convenient. [Sort of.]

Well... yeah, but I didn't think you'd be back. How did it go anyway?

[Voice]

A few Third Party soldiers showed up near the end, but mostly it was just dealing with cargo. [So. Pretty boring. She's just glad to be back.]

[bamfing]

Ahh, I remember doing that all too well. Lots of sun, plenty of work, and boring evenings.

It's just meeting a new neighbor, for god's sake; it's not the end of the world, Sally tells herself, but she straightens her skirt and smooths her shirtfront again, just in case. She's never been nervous about this sort of thing before, but being on entirely new world must be playing with her psyche. Disregarding all that, she takes a deep breath and knocks on the door.

Meeting new neighbors is easy, she tells herself. People do it every day. And they do, but something about not having a landlord or a rent to pay or a sheet somewhere in a filing cabinet that has her background checks and contact information and everything on it makes it all seem distressingly informal. Still, Sally draws herself up, determined to make a good impression.

Melanie is fairly used to being by herself on the seventh floor, and she hasn't expected anyone to come visit, either. So, the sudden knock at her door takes her by surprise.

However, surprise visit or not, someone is on the other end of her door and there's no sense in making whoever it is wait. May as well find out what they want, after all.

Melanie opens the door, and while she's already finished cleaning herself up, there are some band-aids and small bruises to be seen here and there.

"Hello?"

Police instincts; Sally takes in the bruises and marks, but disregards them for now - probably nothing. Nothing worth poking her nose into, anyway. The woman is younger than Sally expected, but the population of this place seems skewed toward the younger end, anyway. Sally puts on her best winning smile.

"Hi, sorry to bother you. I just moved in a few doors down, so I thought I'd introduce myself. Sally Donovan." She puts a hand out to shake and hopes that wherever this young woman comes from, they have a similar introductory custom.

Melanie may be a (former) criminal, but that certainly doesn't mean she's without manners. She doesn't hesitate to grasp Sally's hand and give it a firm shake.

"Melanie Walker. Nice to meet you."

[Robin's in the middle of skulking around the village when Melanie is dropped back in looking like a drowning rat. It's pathetic, even though she's headed in the direction of supplies to help with it. And even if Melanie's a crummy piece of the GC lowlife, nobody deserves to look that pathetic in the middle of the night.

So Robin will swoop down behind her and do the chivalrous thing, removing his cape and draping it around her shoulders to shield her from the rain. This is totally a roundabout way to apologize for having gotten on Kurt's bad side months ago, but either way, there's a Robin and he's playing nice and Melanie can shove any protests she might have about it so there.]

[Robin what are you even doing.]

I was going to get an umbrella, you know. [A small protest, but she doesn't remove the cape, either. Robin is still an annoying twip as far as Melanie is concerned, but he's playing nice and the gesture is appreciated. So fine, she'll play nice, too.]

[He's making an effort, that's what he's doing.]

I figured. But by the time you got one, it probably wouldn't make a difference one way or the other.

How badly did they hurt you?

[... yeah, okay, he's right about that.

She shrugs.]

Nothing worth worrying about. [Small scrapes and bruises do not compare to getting stabbed or shot. So yeah, she'll be fine.]

[This rain wasn't Kitty's thing either, and apparently old Kitty didn't have an umbrella either. So! She just decided it was a good time to go shopping for one, and maybe a few other things.

She was about to grab one, but it seems someone else was going for the same one.]

[Melanie blinks at Kitty before shrugging a little absently.]

Don't worry about it. It's not as if there's only one umbrella here, after all.

Yeah. It's, like, totally cool that we can just take whatever we want. It's kinda nice to not have to pay for anything here.

It's definitely a lot easier when you don't have to worry about needing money for food or rent. [One of the few perks to this place.]

[You know what? Rapunzel loves the item shop. So Melanie may spot a blonde with the most massive braid she has ever seen picking through the absolutely weirdest items in the whole place.

She holds up one of those awesome foam hands.]

Is this...an oven mitt? Hmm...

[Wait a minute. Melanie recognizes that voice, and she's pretty sure she left a while ago, along with Flynn. But then again, this is Luceti. So it probably is her... but it doesn't hurt to check.]

... Rapunzel?

[Rapunzel's head bobs up at the sound of her name.]

Um, yes? [...She doesn't recognize you. Oh, dear.]

[... Oh.]

You don't remember. [Right. Because sometimes people come back and don't remember their time here.

I'm Melanie. We knew each other the last time you were here

[Once Melanie does head back to CH1, she's not the only one arriving there. Gambit is getting back from a misadventure out at the Battle Dome and, in true southern gentleman fashion, he holds the door open for Mel once he spots her.]

Long time no see, petite.

Yeah. [She grins and steps inside.] But at least I'm the right size this time.

De rien. [Getting in out of this rain now, thanks. And he chuckles quietly as he kicks water loose from his boots.]

An' good t'see they put you back right. Didn't take 'em too long, did it?

[Snowball fights are fun and all, but still.]

I went back to normal a couple of days after that snowball fight. [Just in time for all of the Valentine's nonsense.]
