[It’s late evening when Melanie returns from her mission, and despite the rain, she’s just glad to be back.

She's got a few small scrapes and bruises here and there and she's feeling exhausted, but she'll worry about all of that later. First she's off to the item shop so she can get a damn umbrella, because like hell she's walking back to CH1 in this rain. Sure, she doesn't mind the weather, but she's not exactly fond of getting soaking wet, either.

So, once that's taken care of, Melanie will head back to her apartment so she can clean herself up.

... Oh, yeah. Should probably take care of something else, too.]

Happy anniversary. [Six months is something that should be acknowledged, right? ... Well, it's the longest that she's ever been with anyone, at least. So that counts for something.]

So what about tonight? We could always set up something in the dome. [Somewhere romantic, maybe. He had to think of something perfect.]

Sure. [She grins.] Should I dress up for the occasion?

That depends, what do you have in mind?

[As it is, Melanie is not a fan of wearing gowns or any kind of formal wear - it always reminds her of her family and makes her look too much like her mother. But if they were going to try and go for anything beyond casual, it might be more appropriate. But again, that depends on what they'll even be doing.]

Not sure. This is my first time for something like this. [An anniversary, she means. She's still kind of (pleasantly) surprised that she's managed to stay with Kurt for so long, when before she could only be with someone until her family decided to move again.]

Hey, it's whatever you want, yeah? We could go do something fancy or we could stay in and watch old movies. I mean, you must be pretty beat, yeah?

[It would be unfair to make her get all dolled up if she's too tired for it.]

[She is definitely tired, so Melanie will probably save dolling herself up for another day.]

I think the second option might be the better one tonight. [Because she is tired and the thought of just spending a quiet evening with her boyfriend sounds pretty nice.]

[All the better, really. He knows her birthday won't be long from now.]

So we're going to need some snacks. How about we meet at the store?

[That it is. There are certainly worse times she could have been brought back, at any rate.]

Sure, I'll meet you there.

[Kurt, as always, arrives first. He'll be hanging around the entrance, casually sipping on a soda.]

[It won't take Melanie long to get there, and when she does, she'll be giving Kurt a hug. Because she missed him, okay.]

It's good to see you.

[He eagerly returns the hug, because he was going to do the same thing if she didn't.]

You too, Mel. It's not the same without you around here.

Well, I'm back now. And I don't plan on going anywhere for a while. [Yeah, there's no way of really promising that in a place like this, but... eh. Who cares? She's just happy to be back.]

I think next time I'm going to have to make you pass up on a mission. [It's his turn anyway! She can do the missing, okay.]

Mm. I don't think I'd want to go on another one for a while, anyway.

It was all the hard work, wasn't it? It looks glamorous at first, but then you realize you're just grunt labor!

You're right. All that hard work? I don't think I could do it again.

Finally your secret comes out! You're just lazy!

Since when was that a secret?

... okay, point. So, did you ask for anything cool as your reward?

[As he talks, he'll grab a basket so he can start loading up on tonight's snackage.]

Not really. There wasn't really anything that I could think of that I wanted.

What, really? Man, you should have asked for something cool and future-y!

It's only future-y to you, Kurt. [For her, all the stuff in Gotham is nothing new.] Besides, most of the stuff I'd think about asking for wouldn't have much use here.

[She grins.]

But maybe I'll see if I can request something from the future for you the next time I go on a mission.

That's all I ask! The flashier the better.

In that case, I'll make sure to keep it in mind.

In the meantime, I think I'm supposed to be getting you something pretty soon.
