[It’s late evening when Melanie returns from her mission, and despite the rain, she’s just glad to be back.

She's got a few small scrapes and bruises here and there and she's feeling exhausted, but she'll worry about all of that later. First she's off to the item shop so she can get a damn umbrella, because like hell she's walking back to CH1 in this rain. Sure, she doesn't mind the weather, but she's not exactly fond of getting soaking wet, either.

So, once that's taken care of, Melanie will head back to her apartment so she can clean herself up.

... Oh, yeah. Should probably take care of something else, too.]

Happy anniversary. [Six months is something that should be acknowledged, right? ... Well, it's the longest that she's ever been with anyone, at least. So that counts for something.]

Well... yeah, but I didn't think you'd be back. How did it go anyway?

A few Third Party soldiers showed up near the end, but mostly it was just dealing with cargo. [So. Pretty boring. She's just glad to be back.]

Ahh, I remember doing that all too well. Lots of sun, plenty of work, and boring evenings.

Basically. [But anyway.] Are you busy?

[It's a bit too short notice to do anything special, but they could at least hang out.]

Oh, totally. I've got the whole day planned out. No way to move it around.

That's too bad. I guess I'll have to find someone else to spend time with.

Oh yeah? You have someone in mind?

Not yet, but there's plenty of people here. I'm sure I'll figure something out.

Well, what do you know? I'm already jealous. I guess I'm all yours.

[She laughs a little.] And what about those plans of yours?

Gilligan's Island will just have to wait for another night.

Gilligan's Island? [Way before her time, man.]

[! She doesn't know what it is!]

Well, I know what we'll be doing tomorrow. [It's before his time too, but he loves old stuff like that.]

[No, she doesn't.]

Works for me. [And now she's wondering just how retro it is... though a lot of things would be, by her standards.]

So what about tonight? We could always set up something in the dome. [Somewhere romantic, maybe. He had to think of something perfect.]

Sure. [She grins.] Should I dress up for the occasion?

That depends, what do you have in mind?

[As it is, Melanie is not a fan of wearing gowns or any kind of formal wear - it always reminds her of her family and makes her look too much like her mother. But if they were going to try and go for anything beyond casual, it might be more appropriate. But again, that depends on what they'll even be doing.]

Not sure. This is my first time for something like this. [An anniversary, she means. She's still kind of (pleasantly) surprised that she's managed to stay with Kurt for so long, when before she could only be with someone until her family decided to move again.]

Hey, it's whatever you want, yeah? We could go do something fancy or we could stay in and watch old movies. I mean, you must be pretty beat, yeah?

[It would be unfair to make her get all dolled up if she's too tired for it.]

[She is definitely tired, so Melanie will probably save dolling herself up for another day.]

I think the second option might be the better one tonight. [Because she is tired and the thought of just spending a quiet evening with her boyfriend sounds pretty nice.]

[All the better, really. He knows her birthday won't be long from now.]

So we're going to need some snacks. How about we meet at the store?

[That it is. There are certainly worse times she could have been brought back, at any rate.]

Sure, I'll meet you there.

[Kurt, as always, arrives first. He'll be hanging around the entrance, casually sipping on a soda.]

[It won't take Melanie long to get there, and when she does, she'll be giving Kurt a hug. Because she missed him, okay.]

It's good to see you.

[He eagerly returns the hug, because he was going to do the same thing if she didn't.]
